September 21, 2016

Junior Jenna Leader (9) goes up to spike the ball against Chinook Thursday Night.

The Lady Pioneers had a tough week in the gym with two powerhouse teams coming to town. The Chinook Sugarbeeters came down from the highline on Thursday and the ladies had a good match, but fell 25-17, 25-12, 25-23. Some decent scores considering the Sugarbeeters talent and schedule. Way to make em fight to the end ladies. Jenna Leader came up with 6 digs in the match and the team had 12 blocks with Jaylyn Cline posting 5 of them, showing that the girls are making every effort to win.

Friday night the Lady Pioneers traveled to Box Elder to take on the Lady Bears. Coming off a hard fought game against Chinook the girls were determined to fight it out with the Lady Bears. Box Elder came on strong, but Big Sandy were playing an awesome game, matching them with everything they slammed at them. In the end, it was the Lady Pioneers that came out on top with scores to prove they are a team to take notice of. Winning the matchup 17-25, 25-13, 25-18, 25-27, 15-9.

The Belt Huskies came on Saturday for a match-up. Belt also has a very solid program year after year and plays a lot of tough schools. The scores ended up 25-10, 25-8, 25-12. The ladies are enjoying a fun season of volleyball and the skills for games and seasons to come are being developed daily. The muscles and stamina will be at full strength for basketball season and I can see the positive attitude in these ladies faces everyday at school.

The team travels to North Star Thursday to take on the Knights. Come show your support for the ladies on Saturday as the ladies take on Hays. This will be a good match-up. The ladies beat them on their side of the mountain and are excited to get another win here at the Pioneer Homestead.
