The Pioneers headed to Augusta on Wednesday to take on the Augusta Elks. The Pioneers won 66-32 with four different Pioneers finding the end zone. Laurence and Weston Allderdice both rushed for three touchdowns. Ryan Roth scored on a 77 yard kick return late in the game. A sign of great things to come in the future. Elijah Wagoner also found the end zone on a 10 yard pass from Brock. Laurence again hauled in two passes from Brock for touchdowns.

Big Sandy dominated the first quarter posting thirteen points and holding Augusta to zero. The second quarter was more of a battle with both teams scoring 18 points to go to half at 31-18. The Pioneers came out of the half and once again held Augusta to no points in the third quarter and added another 13 to the Pioneer lead. So for the fourth quarter coach Simpson had a chance to loosen the line-up and let some players try different positions and work a few things for next year. Big Sandy scored 22 in the fourth quarter to Augusta's 14 making the final score 66-32.

The Pioneers ended the season with a 4-4 record an improvement over recent years, but just short of what it takes to make the playoffs this year. Big Sandy fought hard this season and had a great year. The Men in purple had some injuries plague then right at the time they needed full strength for tough games. Had they made it to the playoffs they would have made some heads turn. Great season guys you make us proud.
