Lady Pioneers Season comes to an end

WE DIG

Deeper

HIT

With a purpose

SET

High standards

BLOCK

Out the competition

This mantra is posted on the outside of all the ladies lockers. While the ladies were not the winningest team this season they still accomplished these goals. The 6C district playoffs were last weekend and the ladies fell to Box Elder in a battle of four sets and then went on to face North Star and lost in three sets. The Chinook Sugarbeeters hosted and decisively won the tourney.

The McDonald’s, principals at Box Elder, came over for dinner and the Cubs game on Friday night and I talked with them about the Big Sandy/Box Elder rivalry. Jeremy commented that the Box Elder volleyball team has enjoyed the back and forth battle with Big Sandy this season and their new coach, our old coach, used that energy to really push the Lady Bears to a new level this season.

We also talked how super small school sports are really affected by school population numbers. With an overall larger pool of players to choose from, the second string and up and comers tend to be stronger and it is that depth on the bench that makes for tough teams later in the season. Big Sandy is proud of the effort the Lady Pioneers put forth on the court this season and hope spirits are high for basketball season.

The Big Sandy fans are behind you ladies no matter how many points are on the board. Big Sandy fans live lives of boom and bust so having sports teams that go through the same is just another day bucking the wind on the prairie. GO PIONEERS!!
