Dorothy "Dot" Stovall

January 4, 2017

Dorothy Yvonne (Frieling) Stovall, 81, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2016.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Fort Benton. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of O'Connor Funeral Home.

Dorothy was born October 5, 1935 to John J. and Veronica (Nagengast) Frieling in Fort Benton. She was the 9th child of 10. She graduated from Fort Benton High School in 1954. On April 12, 1958 she married Dave Stovall and from this union they had 3 children: Daniel, Colin and Rhonda.

Right after High School, Dorothy began work as a telephone operator (back with the switch board and party lines). Once her children came she took time off to raise them and when they were all in school she went to work at Price Rite as a clerk. As her children became involved with outside activities she decided to go to work as a part time bookkeeper with Haas and Associates/Three Rivers Implement alongside of her husband who was part owner. That way she could have time off anytime to be involved with her kids and all their activities. She retired in 1990.

Dorothy had a passion for sports of all kinds, especially when her children or grandchildren were involved. She was the loudest cheerleader! She loved to bowl, throw darts, crochet, crossword and jig saw puzzles, camping with family and friends and her beautiful yard full of flowers. Most of all, she loved family! She was the greatest hostess in her prime, whenever family was coming to town or holidays were involved. Christmas was her favorite.

Unfortunately, Dorothy had a major stroke in early 2001. It limited her in many ways, but with the help of her wonderful husband, family and many friends it didn't stop her, until now.

Dorothy is survived by her husband, Dave, of 58 years; sons Daniel (Nikki) and Colin (Nancy); daughter Rhonda (Dan) Works; sisters Shirley Yirsa and Lenore Steinbacher; brother James (Donna) Frieling; grandchildren Krystal (Scott) Baysinger, Amanda Stovall, Brett (Marie) Stovall, Tanner, Zachary and Everett Works; great-grands Corbin and Gracie Baysinger; sisters-in-law Beryl Stovall, Helen Stovall and Linda Madsen; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings Delores Kelley, Marjorie Seright, Phyllis Peterson, John E. Frieling , George Frieling and Stanley (Bub) Frieling; in-laws Clyde and Ida Stovall, C.J. Steinbacher, Edward Yirsa, Alice Frieling, Shirley Frieling, Ross Peterson, Cecil Seright, Genny Frieling, Orville Kelley, Charles Stovall, Gene Stovall, Eva (Gaylord) Croft, Linda (Bob) Ross and William Madsen.

Any memorials in Dorothy's name may be made to Missouri River Medical Center, 1501 St. Charles, Fort Benton, MT 59442, Fort Benton Youth Bowling in care of Star Taylor, or donor's choice.

Condolences may be shared with the family at OConnorFuneralHome.com.
