The Big Sandy Mountaineer -

The Big Sandy Swim Team outscored the hometown Conrad Swim team to grab a second team place finish this weekend. This is the best finish for the Barracudas this year and the final regular season meet of the year. Next week, the team will be competing in the Western Divisional Meet in Columbia Falls with hopes of qualifying for the state meet in Lewistown.

Brady Pleninger racked up three wins to earn 42 points and another high point trophy in the 13-14 boys division. Cam Schwarzbach won the 200 meter free and Kade Strutz won the 200 IM. They both swam to second place finishes in their other two races, scoring 38 points each and tied for second place high point honors in the 13-14 boys division. Dillin Geyer won the 100 fly and scored 36 points for the Barracudas to earn third place high point honors and to round out the Barracudas sweep of the 13-14 boys category. These four boys also set a new pool record in the 200 free relay.

Amiya Griffith won the 50 back and scored 36 points to bring home a third place high point honors in the 11-12 girls division.

July 8 &9 in the Biterroot

Twenty-three Barracudas braved the heat wave and took to the pool in Hamilton for the Bitterroot Swim Team Invitational Meet. The team placed third overall, coming in behind Bitterroot and Conrad. Standouts for the Barracudas this week were Amiya Griffth and Jenna Leader in the fly, Kade Strutz in the IM and Brady Pleninger, who won all three of his races and a high point trophy. Ryder Oats placed third in the 9-10 boys category for overall points. The Barracudas are off this weekend, then head to Conrad on July 22nd.
