Pioneer Football, Volleyball teams in action

The Big Sandy volleyball team picked up its first win of the season Friday evening as they defeated the Hays/Lodge Pole Thunderbirds in straight sets 25-9, 25-117 and 25-16.

Sophomore Lainey Gregory helped power the team to the win as she set up the hitters with 7 of the teams 10 assists and served 15 aces in the win.

Jaylyn Cline, Georgia Wortman, Stacey Allderdice and Cassidy Belcourt each tallied a pair of kills.

Saturday the girls were defeated by the Chester-Joplin-Inverness Hawks in three sets. This upcoming week has the team in Chinook on Friday and Belt on Saturday.

Big Sandy Pioneers 28

The Pioneer football team suffered its first setback of the season falling to the Power-Dutton-Brady Titans on Friday. The Titans are in their inaugural season of Six-Man Football after playing previously in the eight man ranks.

Weston Allderdice led the Pioneers with 153 yards rushing and two touchdowns, Allderdice scored in the third quarter on a five yard run and then again in the fourth from seven yards out.

Senior Bryant Jones added a 35 yard fumble return for a score and freshman Kade Strutz scored in the second quarter from two yards out. The team will travel to Heart Butte this Saturday to face the Warriors.
