Big Sandy faced tough tests in Chinook and Belt

The Big Sandy Pioneers had a rough go of things on the court this past week beginning with a heartbreaking five set loss to the Box Elder Bears on Tuesday. Friday the girls were bested in straight set by the Chinook Sugarbeeters and Saturday they fell to the Belt Huskies.

Big Sandy took the first two sets against the Bears winning the first 26-24 and the second 25-18. Box Elder responded with a 25-21 set win in the third and evened the match at 2-2 with a 25-14 win in the fourth. Box Elder secured the match with a 15-13 fifth set win.

Friday against the Sugarbeeters Big Sandy fell 25-12, 25-12 and 25-10. Sophomore Lainey Gregory set up the hitters with eight assists in the contest.

Saturday Big Sandy took on the Belt Huskies, falling again in straight sets 25-16, 25-15 and 25-10. Junior Jaylyn Cline led the offensive attack with seven of the teams 13 kills. Gregory recorded eight assists.

This week Big Sandy will head to Hays on Saturday looking to complete the season sweep of the Thunderbirds. They will return home on Thursday September 28 when they will look to even the season series with the Box Elder Bears.
