The Big Sandy Mountaineer -

Big Sandy Activities is still getting request for flowerpots; therefore another explanation is in order. It was a great privilege for Big Sandy Activities to serve the community by yearly planting and taking care of flowerpots around the town of Big Sandy. They do believe it helped make our community prettier, and the 99 flowerpots at the cemetery have helped make it a wonderful place. A big thank you needs to go to John Siebrasse for all the extra work he did for the community by going around all the flowerpots every summer at the cemetery.

Big Sandy Activities has taken quite a cut in their funding. They could have just pass the cost along to the customer and charge more for the pot, but there are also regulations concerning care of the individuals which will not allow them to continue.

This year BSA will NOT be putting flowerpots in the cemetery, down town, City Park, or in personal yards. The board of Big Sandy Activities said if some organization wanted to pick up the activity for a fund raiser they would donate the green house, pots, tank, etc. they would need to complete the project. If no organization wants it as a fundraiser then the green house, pots, tank etc. are for sale.
