New Year's; Celebrate with good meals and a Safe time

December 27, 2017

News Year Eve gives us a chance to celebrate the past year and encourages us to look forward to new beginnings. This celebration is very old, about 2500 years old. It is usually celebrated with friends and family enjoying a good meal together before staying up until after the new year starts at 12:00 AM.

Pep's will be open this Sunday the 31st even though they are normally closed on Sunday's. Josh Danreuther said he plans on serving Steak and Shrimp with full meal including potatoes and sides.

You'll need to call and make a reservation to make sure Pep's has a steak for you. The Mint will be serving Prime Rib and Prawns. Marie Jappe said they would also be featuring the winning Christmas Stroll specialty drink the Chocolate Cherry Martini.

The Mountaineer had an early dead line this week, so the Diamond 4 U may have something special going on, but I don't know it.

Sheriff Vern Burdick can stress enough that people take the necessary precautions to keep themselves save.

Deputy Jeremey Echols said there will be deputies on duty that night. "Everyone needs to be careful and have a designated driver if they plan on celebrating the night away."

If you find you need a safe ride home Sheriff Deputy Echols said they will help you find one. The Highway Patrol will also be beefing up their presence on the road this New Year's Eve. There will be up to three times more the number of state troopers on the road that night.
