Every year the F.E. Miley School invites the public to their Extravaganza. Programs and cookies are given at the door so you know exactly what you are going to see in each classroom. Obvious homemade chocolate chip cookies yelled at you to eat them when you walked by. They were that good!

The Kindergarten class did an incredibly good job. They had Hands on Science Experiments to show and tell you about. Each table had a display of the experiments and the results. They weren't shy at all and they could tell their guests what they did and the results of the experiment.

The first grade had a large study about bees. Each group of kids had studied bees and presented their part of the story. You can tell they knew their information by the way they talked to total strangers and informed them with a lot of knowledge.

I was impressed with a new approach to art in the 2nd grade classroom. They had studied historical art masters. They knew who was their favorite artist were and while they answered questions they were painting their own masterpieces.

The 3rd grade classes theme was "Spot" Our Success. They had all written and illustrated their own books. Some read their books to their quests, while others just handed the book to you so you could read it if you wanted. Each had a planet they had studied and could tell you all about it. There was a poster board presentation of a book they had read. Most interesting of all they used a potato diagram to help illustrate a rather large and new vocabulary word. I don't think a single one of them will forget the meaning of their own unique vocabulary word.

The 4th through the 6th grade participated once again in historical wax museums. Where each student dressed up as the character they researched and would stand like a wax statue. The 4th was Montana History; the 5th grade was US History; and the 6th grade was World History. The 5th and 6th grades would give you an oral report of their historic individual and why they enjoyed researching the person, after a button was pushed. It was fun to watch them come alive.

In the gym there was a substantial art show with art from every class. And the gifted and talented program had all their critical thinking builds on display and they worked independently to solve a problem.

The grade school had a scholastic book fair going on from 1-3 with the opportunity for guest to purchase a book to add to the school library, or take it home. The local library is having a reading challenge this summer for all ages.

When leaving little ones just couldn't stop dancing in the rain! It was a wonderful celebrations of how incredible our kids are!
