National 4-H Week,

October 7-13, 2018

For the 76th consecutive year, millions of youth, families, volunteers and alumni across the country having engaged in many different activities celebrating National 4-H Week this week (October 7-13). This year’s theme, Inspire Kids to Do, is a campaign that will give kids more opportunities to do, empowering them with the skills they need to succeed in life and career.

4-H was found on the belief that when kids are given the opportunity to pursue their passions and steer they own course, their unique skills grow and take shape, helping them to become true leaders in their lives, careers and communities.

Throughout National 4-H Week, be on the lookout for the Sunshine Snippers 4-H Club promoting 4-H in the Big Sandy community. This is the perfect opportunity to find out more about 4-H, sign up your kids or join as a volunteer if you have been considering doing so.

4-H alumni are always the first to acknowledge the significant positive impact 4-H had on them as young people. In fact, research has shown that young people in 4-H are nearly four times as likely to contribute to their communities and are twice as likely to engage in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) programs during after school time.

In Chouteau County, we have 83 4-H youth members and 36 4-H volunteers involved in four clubs—Arrowhead 4-H Club, Stir, Stitch ‘N’ Stirrup 4-H Club, Sunshine Snippers 4-H Club and Willing Workers 4-H Club.
