Science Olympiad earns second place in Small School and 11th over all in Bozeman

The Big Sandy High School and Junior High Science Olympiad teams competed in Bozeman this last week at their state competition. The high school team finished second in the small schools division and 11th overall. The junior high finished 28th overall, despite competing with a partial team due to athletic scheduling conflicts.

Notable placings in the high school division were Jozlyn Baumann and Grace Finke, who brought home bronze medals in the Write It- Do It category, Jozyln Baumann and Madison Terry placed 6th in Sounds of Music and Bailey Gasvoda and Katherine Bold placed 7th in Water Quality.

The junior high scientists also posted some notable showings, with Reinhard Bold and Lane Demontiney placing 4th in Meteorology and 5th in Water Quality. Mattie Gasvoda and Caydence Pleninger placed 7th in Fossils and Anna Allderdice placed 8th in Heredity.
