According to Mayor Shaud Schwarzbach they have about 1,000 linear feet to go before they are finished. When the lines are completed all projects around Big Sandy have been accomplished. If you take a moment to look at the ditches being dug you find it interesting to observe the difference from all the old pipes and the new pipes. If you haven't look yet, carefully observe the ditches. The large steel sledge placed in the ditch is there to protect the workers from the dirt collapsing upon them. It will take about four to six weeks for them to finish.

C&C Excavation of Havre got the bid and started the project last August 13th. There was approximately 11,000 linear feet of pipe that needed to be laid and 12 fire hydrants had to be replaced. There were a few hiccups, due to water tables and the ownership of some of the land.

Currently the city council and the mayor are meeting with the attorney concerning the new water and sewer ordinances. There will be a new ordinance, but they want to make sure it can legally stand. They'll have the legal opinion of the lawyer and have a better understanding in a week. It will be on the city council agenda for the May 9th meeting.
