The NILE (Northern International Livestock Exposition) was formed in 1966. In 1967, at the Public Auction Yard, they hosted an event that showcased Montana's livestock business. In 1968 there were 250 exhibitors and 600 entries. And it has grown since then.

After so many years, the NILE has become one of Montana's prestigious event in agriculture. They pride themselves on having some of the best genetics on show. They host several cattle breeds and sales along with high-performance horse sales.

In 2006 the NILE added a ranch rodeo. After which they sponsor the professional bull riders event in April.

However, their educational efforts on the part of Montana ranch communities is one of their great efforts. "A large focus has been placed on programs to encourage youth participation like the Merit Heifer Program, Jr Fed Show and Sale, Breeding Cattle Shows, Youth Judging Contest, school assemblies, and an agricultural education program for over 2,000 are 4th graders. The first NILE was funded much the way it is funded today, through memberships from businesses, ranchers, and other supporters as well as sponsorships from corporate partners. The Nile is dedicated to the promotion of livestock production, agricultural education, and respect for our western tradition. We believe those are important for the future of agriculture, and we ask you to join us if you share those same values. As partners, together, we can accomplish more than any one individual."
