Two new board members have volunteered to serve on the board of directors. Brenda Darlington was voted in at the beginning of the monthly meeting. At the end of the meeting, Terry Grant was asked if he would be a board member, and he agreed.

The majority of the meeting was spent reviewing further financial information. Pat Matthews has done an excellent job of getting the late bills paid and ready for the auditors to arrive the week after Easter.

There was a large group of people there, showing once again how everyone wanted the center to remain open. Three state people were also present at the meeting by zoom.

There was a discussion about updating the by-laws. The state was sending a sample of by-laws for the board members to read and review. The board is also working on a board policy and a Big Sandy Center Policy and Procedure Manuel. Lorrie Merrill mentioned the auditors would give clear direction to the board on what we will need in place, and we will be waiting for their advice before creating a policy and procedure document.

Four people have shown an interest in being the director, and the council has also received information from people wanting to donate. However, until the audit is completed and the board knows where they stand financially, we have no idea what budget we could develop and how much we could afford to pay a director. Those doing the audit asked that we not do anything for the future till they get the past clearly defined.

Pat Matthew mentioned a rumor that the council had fired Crystal Geyer. She had the resignation letters of three employees, including Crystals if anyone wanted to read them.

Rotary will not be using the center till it opens again.

It was discussed that while the center is closed and before it opens again, the hospital will serve meals to all seniors who need them. The monthly money received by the center from the state will go to the center as usual, and the Big Sandy Hospital will send an invoice for the meals they prepared for those in need in our community.

The state was asked what to do with outdated commodities. They will get back to us. The freezers are full of food, which will give them a good start when the center opens again.

The board will still need at least one more board member if anyone is interested.
