The Big Sandy Mountaineer -

Mariah Sheehy, a 2016 Big Sandy graduate and freshman at Montana State University – Bozeman, auditioned for and was recently selected as a member of The Spirit of the West Marching Band at MSU. Under the direction of Dr. Nathan Stark, The Spirit of the West Marching Band (SOTW), an ensemble of 180 students from more than 40 academic majors, is one of the larger college marching bands in the Pacific Northwest. The band performs at all home football games as well as the Bobcat/Grizzly game, which will be played in Missoula this year on November 19th. SOTW members commit to a minimum of 200 hours of rehearsal and performance time during Fall Semester. Mariah plays clarinet and will be performing on September 24 during the MSU Homecoming football game.
