Rotary Banquet slated for March 12

This year the Rotary Banquet is early. It is the thirty-second banquet and it is on March 12, 2016

This year’s theme is “Wishing Upon A Star”.

As many people living in this area know these wonderful banquets have been held yearly since 1984.

Supporting the banquet will fund many things in the Big Sandy community that touch all aspects of the community. Each year banquet proceeds go to the upkeep of park and recreational facilities in Big Sandy.

For example, Sheehy Park on Sandy Creek would never have been the same after two floods had Rotary not stepped in and rebuilt bridges and infrastructure. Money for that rebuilding mostly all came from Rotary Banquets.

Rotary helps the Big Sandy Food Bank and does scholarships, is involved in the new library, puts on a glorious Easter Egg Hunt and supports the Big Sandy Senior Citizen’s Center. The list of people and organizations helped by Rotary does not end there but goes on and on and on.

In a nutshell, Big Sandy citizens “Wish upon a Star” and Rotary comes and fulfills those wishes time after time after time.

To quote the Rotary Club itself, “We’re asking for your support for our annual Rotary Benefit Banquet. Each year almost 400 people attend the banquet. A contribution from you is a great way to let the community and surrounding area know that you have helped the Big Sandy Rotary Club. Your support and assistance to the Big Sandy Rotary Club helps ensure that these projects and activities will continue well into the future.”

There are lots of fund raising efforts for any number of very good reasons in Big Sandy. However, there are none any better than wishing on a star and letting Rotary fulfill that wish!

“When you wish upon a star

Makes no difference who you are

Anything your heart desires

Will come to you.”

“If your heart is in your dreams

No request is too extreme

When you wish upon a star

Like all dreamers do.”
