The 2017 basketball season is underway and the home of the Pioneers has seen some changes this year. New to our gym this year is a beautiful Pioneers scorers’ table, purchased by the Booster Club with the help of donations given in memory of longtime Pioneers supporter, Allan Pearson. The scorers’ table will be dedicated during the first home basketball game on December 21st. Please plan to join the Booster Club in honoring the Pearson family and their support of our Pioneer basketball teams.

You’ll also notice colorful banners hanging on the walls, advertising the generous support of many of our local area businesses. The Big Sandy Booster Club implemented this new corporate sponsor fundraising program this year, which to date has raised over $7000.

The funds raised by the Booster Club are used to support our students in their various athletic and academic endeavors. In the past, students received financial support once per season that could be used to offset the cost of a meal or other travel expenses. The club decided to continue this tradition again this year, but instead applied the funds towards the end-of-season celebration held at a local establishment. Thanks to the generous support of our community and corporate sponsors, the club will not only host another end-of-season celebration at the conclusion of winter sports, but will also provide the financial support for travel and meals as in the past. The club realizes how important this financial support has been to our local families and we regret our decision to shift our financial support towards our end-of-season celebration. We apologize if our oversight created any inconvenience to our Pioneer families. We look forward to continued support of our students in their academic and athletic activities.
