Barracudas Prove they're Ready to Swim

The girls 11/12 200 yard medley relay set a new pool record this weekend in Harlem.

The Big Sandy Swim Team season opener was held in Harlem this last weekend. Overall, the team brought home second place honors, scoring 658 points and finishing only seven points behind Chinook.

High point honors went to Brady Pleninger in the senior boys division and Cam Schwarzbach in the 13/14 boys division. Dillin Geyer placed second in the 13/14 boys division, while Daisy LaBuda finished second in the 11/12 girls division, Anna Allderdice swam to a 3rd place finish in the 13/14 girls division, Henry Merrill placed 3rd in the 8-Under boys division and Astrid Ketchum placed 3rd in the 8-Under girls division.

Six new pool records were set: Dillin Geyer set new marks in the 50 yard fly and the 100 yard fly; Cam Schwarzbach broke records in the 50 yard free and the 100 yard free; the senior boys 200 yard freestyle relay team (Cam Schwarzbach, Ty Schwarzbach, Dillin Geyer & Brady Pleninger) and the 11/12 girls 200 yard medley relay team (Laynee Ophus, Daisy LaBuda, Josalynn Genereux & Kylee Sternberg) both set new marks.

The Barracudas compete next in Shelby on June 9th. Complete results are below.

8-Under girls: 100 free relay – 1st (Ketchum, LaBuda, SunChild, Werk) Astrid Ketchum: 25 free – 3rd, 50 free – 3rd, 25 back – 4th ; Harley LaBuda: 25 free – 5th, 50 free – 4th, 25 back – 5th; Daijalin SunChild: 25 free – 8th, 50 free – 7th, 25 back – 8th; Mackenzie Werk: 25 free – 12th, 50 free – 9th.

9-10 girls: Jai Baumann: 100 IM: 4th, 50 breast – 3rd, 50 back – 4th; Lindsey Cline: 50 free – 7th, 100 free – 5th, 50 back – 7th; Kaya Demontiney: 50 free – 11th, 100 free – 7th, 50 back – 11th; Heather Sherbern: 50 free – 14th, 50 back – 13th.

11-12 girls: 200 free relay – 2nd (Bachoco, Genereux,Sternberg, Ophus) 200 medley relay – 1st **new pool record** (Genereux, LaBuda, Ophus, Sternberg); Mace Bachoco: 50 free – 9th, 50 breast – 1st, 50 back - 3rd ; Josalyn Genereux: 50 free – 11th, 50 breast – 2nd, 100 free – 11th; Daisy LaBuda: 50 free – 2nd, 100 free – 1st, 50 fly – 3rd; Laynee Ophus: 50 free – 3rd, 100 free – 5th, 50 back – 4th ; Kylee Sternberg: 50 free – 4th, 100 free – 4th, 50 back – 2nd

13-14 girls: 200 free relay – 2nd (LaBuda, Philips, Pleninger, Allderdice) 200 medley relay 2nd (Bachoco, Philips, Pleninger, Allderdice); Anna Allderdice: 50 free – 2nd, 100 free – 2nd, 200 free – 2nd; Malaysia Philips: 200 IM: 5th, 50 free – 6th, 100 breast – 3rd; Caydence Pleninger: 200 IM – 4th, 50 free – 7th, 200 free – 3rd

Cam Scwarzbach and Brady Pleninger received High Point trophies this weekend in Harlem.

9-10 boys: 2-free relay – 2nd (Merrill, SunChild, Moore, Sherbern); Hunter Moore: 50 free – 13th, 100 free – 8th, 50 back – 10th; Eyon Sherbern: 50 free – 6th, 100 free – 9th, 50 back – 6th; Dolan SunChild: 50 free – 8th, 100 free – 6th; 50 back – 8th.

11/12 boys: Tannin Baumann: 50 free – 3rd; 100 free – 4th, 50 back – 2nd

13/14 boys: Dillin Geyer: 200 IM – 2nd; 50 fly – 2nd **new pool record set on Saturday**, 100 fly – 1st **new pool record**; Cam Schwarzbach: 50 free – 1st **new pool record**; 100 free – 1st **new pool record**, 200 free – 2nd
