St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church held its annual Harvest Dinner this Sunday, October 27th. With fantastic food and lots of people, it sure is quite the event. This dinner has been going on for 50+ years, and it’s a great way to get the community together for the holiday season. This dinner was held from 11 am to 2 pm for everyone to come and fellowship with others.

They served classic turkey and mashed potatoes with gravy, some delicious salads, and homemade desserts. The food was incredible and made me feel like Thanksgiving is just around the corner. There was quite the turnout, and it was getting hard to find seats. All of the ladies and those working the event were incredibly welcoming.

“It’s a great opportunity for the community to fellowship and gets together after a busy harvest season.” Said one of the ladies. Everybody was very neighborly, and I had the opportunity to get to know a lot of folks around town. This event used to be held twice a year, once around Halloween and once around St. Patrick’s Day. It also used to be held in the old church.

An Annual Harvest Dinner is so important because so many people find it challenging to get together during the harvest season. This event brings farmers from all over the county together to catch up on everything. While others may celebrate in spring, a harvest dinner is a very common celebration amongst farmers and ranchers around the world.

PCW (Perish Council Women) are the hostesses of these annual events, along with the December raffle. All of the proceeds go out to a scholarship. The PCW would like to thank everyone who came and participated in this yearly tradition.
