Last Tuesday, the Booster club met at the Senior Citizen Center at 7 pm. The meeting was filled with a long agenda. Some items including the new sports cameras and the elementary school’s basketball court were discussed lengthily.

The six ladies including Kelly Dixon, Anna Bold, Jeri Roth, Kristin Gasvoda, Crystal Geyer, and Melanie Schwarzbach began by discussing the current budget. The current amount is $12,778; however, some expenses had not gone through. Melanie gave the financial report which included the cost of the new cameras.

Cheryl then began by discussing with the other ladies about the Pioneers clothing at Hair I Am. Once again, there is a large amount of clothing still left at Tracy’s and they’re all trying to figure out how to get them sold. One of the possible plans is to order more Pioneer gear before homecoming to have some special homecoming clothes.

This year, they used Mid-State Signs as the company to design and print the shirts and such. The original budget for the clothing orders was $750.00; however, it was impossible to stay within that budget. The cost of the clothing, after a very generous donation from Anna, was $1,165.

Kristin worked long and hard this year on the calendars and she is working on getting them out to everyone who has no received one yet. After many years of making the Pioneer calendars, the Booster club is thinking of passing on the tradition to someone who can give it the time it deserves.

To make the calendars each year is a profuse project. It takes a lot of time and patience, especially this time of year. They said that they absolutely loved doing it and wish that they could continue. It is a very important tradition for the community, even though most of us use Facebook and such. This year, over 200 calendars were sold and with only one person doing it, it took a lot longer than expected.

Anna then continued with the Basketball Court Fundraising. So far, they have over $30,000 in fundraising including a large donation from the education foundation. This is a large project, but Anna says, “It’s coming together so nicely that it looks like it was meant to be.” They are all heading in the right direction and all that’s left to do is work out the kinks. They are still counting on a lot of volunteer work from around the community. They are hoping that it will be done by the spring of 2021.

Jeri began discussing the plans from the elementary school sign. The plan is to put it out front in-between the two large windows, under the light. Fast Signs from Helena, MT will be designing it. They are the designers of the Pioneer High School signs and that is why Jeri wants to use them again. She says that they are great to work with and have an amazing attitude about it all. She is currently looking through different designs and can’t wait to see what the options will be. The final say will most likely be from the teachers of the elementary school, as they must see it every day.

The cheerleaders at Big Sandy High school are currently trying to find ways to bring more pep to the basketball games. And along with that, the staff and booster club would like to ask all of the parents at the basketball games to keep their children out of the wrestling annex. It has been a large problem lately and they’re worried a child might get hurt during a game. There are $100 game passes that are sold, they will get you into any game except for playoffs and tournaments. If you are interested, please talk to Melanie Schwarzbach.
