BSHS Track Awards Announced

September 22, 2021

Braydon Cline, Most Improved

It may seem peculiar to be reading an article about track in September when athletic awards are handed out in May. However, with the track season in full swing at the time of the athletic awards ceremony near the end of the school year, the track team has yet to compete in their biggest meets of the year. It's often difficult to predict which athletes will shine when it comes to the most important meets. As a result, the track coaches decided to wait until the Booster Club Kickoff to recognize last spring's track athletes.

Lane Demontiney, Rookie of the year.

The Pioneers had a very successful season, with fourteen of the 16 varsity athletes qualifying for the state meet. Leading the way for the Pioneers was sophomore and this year's girl's MVP Evalina Wagoner, who earned an appearance in all five of her events. Freshman standout Cooper Taylor earned the boy's MVP award by earning three spots at the state meet.

Freshman Lane Demontiney competed in two events at the state meet and was awarded the "Rookie of the Year" award for an outstanding freshman season. Most improved was Braydon Cline, who competed in track for the first time as a sophomore. The Hardest Working Pioneer award was given to Jaycee Worrall.
