2nd Annual Harvest Fest Enjoyed By All

September 28, 2022

Harvest Fest 2022 was a success! We were blessed with perfect temperatures and a smoke-free sky after Friday's rain. The event was well attended and certainly enjoyed by all who came to enjoy the day. With the help of the Big Sandy Baracuda Swim Team, the kids in attendance tested their skills at games like ring toss, pop-can fishing, football throw, and balloon darts, among others. If they weren't partaking in a game, they were getting their face painted, playing on the bounce house, or devouring a yummy treat. There was popcorn, cotton candy and soft serve ice cream available all day. The afternoon brought a cake walk as well, where the winners won some delicious prizes.

Those looking for a game of chance found their way to Bingo, where over $300 in cash prizes were awarded to the winners. Others took part in a game of skill at the Cornhole tournament. The winning team, M & M Sliderz, took home almost $1,000 between the prize money and having bought themselves in the Calcutta. 15 teams participated in the tournament this year, the top three teams came from out of town (Hays/Lodgepole and Great Falls) and provided some stiff competition for our local teams.

In the meantime, others were enjoying the company of one another over a beer served up from Trailer Park Taps, or a Cheddar Brat/Polish Dog from Hi-Line Packing. Freshcut french fries, baked beans, coleslaw and fry bread were on the menu as well. And of course, a slice of pie to satisfy that sweet tooth. The evening wrapped up with a street dance and the musical talents of the Bent Willows.

As the night was coming to a close, Gloria Godfrey mentioned something about how wonderful it was to see people come together and enjoy themselves. To see folks put politics aside, pause in their busy lives and just enjoy each other's company is so refreshing and long overdue. It was a joy to see people young and old visit, play, dance, and enjoy the day.

This community really came together, not only as they enjoyed themselves, but to aid in making this day possible. Our many sponsors and volunteers provide such amazing support, it is truly priceless when hosting an event like this. Thank you is never enough. Special thanks to the Big Sandy Pool Committee and the Big Sandy Baracuda Swim Team for all their help obtaining sponsorship and volunteering throughout the day. The PCW will split all proceeds from the event with the Big Sandy Pool Project. While official numbers are not in yet, it is estimated that

$10,000 will be donated. Last year's proceeds were split with the Catholic Church Youth Group to help support their pilgrimage to Mexico City. In the

coming years, this event aims to continue to support the youth group, but also other community endeavors; The Volunteer Fire Department and EMS are slated to be the next community program to receive proceeds in 2024.

On behalf of the PCW, thank you for supporting Harvest Festival and helping to make this day possible.
