The Montana Association of Clerks and Recorders is sponsoring two statewide scholarships in the amount of $1,000 and $500. All graduating seniors who will be attending an in state school are eligible to apply. Applications will be accepted until March 10, 2023.

Application forms are available at the Clerk and Recorder’s Office at the Courthouse in Fort Benton or from the Guidance Counselors at the Big Sandy, Fort Benton, Geraldine, and Highwood High Schools.

Completed application forms must be received by Clerk and Recorder Lana Claassen by March 10, 2023. Applications from Chouteau County will be judged by a Clerk and Recorder in a different county. The top application from each county is then submitted to be judged with the top applications from all counties. Two statewide winners will be chosen. Applications are judged on the basis of scholastic performance, goals, and school and civic involvement.

The winners will be notified after May 1, 2023. The scholarship will be given directly to the school of the student’s choice after the student has been accepted by the school.
