This last weekend was the start of the 2023 Lady Pioneer Volleyball season. What a great night of volleyball with lots of great volleys and intense moments. The starters for the Lady Pioneers for their first matches of the year were: Jenny Sant, Tosha Allderdice, Jai Baumann, Eva Yeadon, Brianna Terry, and Keira Galbavy.
Eva started the Lady Pioneers off with some great serves including a couple of aces, followed by a great hit from Keira to put the Lady Pioneers up 4-1. With continued great hits from Eva, and Keira as well as some tips and defensive digs from the Lady Pioneers, they continued their lead 12-9. After some great serves from Brianna, Northstar showed some grit and started pulling within a few points. The Lady Pioneers had a couple of miscommunication moments which cost them some points and Northstar took the lead by 2. Great battle back and forth with both teams and the score was tied 23-23. With a couple of good hits, and an ace serve from the Lady Knights, they ended up winning the first match 25-23.
The second match was all Big Sandy. They had a strong start with great serves, hits, and hustle play digs, and dominated with a final score of 25-5. The Lady Pioneers started the 3rd match like the 2nd, and an early lead 12-3. The Lady Knights clawed their way back and made some team adjustments, and gave the Lady Pioneers a challenge, by tying it up 22-22. The Lady Pioneers had a couple of missed opportunities and ended up losing the 3rd match by 3 with a score of 22-25.
The Lady Pioneers came out again like they did in the 2nd match and dominated North Star again with a score of 25-6 forcing a 5th and final match. The final match was back and forth, with both teams giving it their all, but your Lady Pioneers won with a score of 15-10. Team stats and individual leaders are as follows:

The VB Pioneers played four teams during a weekend tournament as well. They only played two sets to 21 points against each team. They won both sets against Harlowton 21-15 and 21-1. Won both sets against DGSG 21-17 and 21-11. They split sets with Elstone 21-17 and 16-21. They lost both sets 10-21 and 17-21.
