The Lady Pioneers take 4th going on to Divisionals

November 1, 2023

The Lady Pioneers headed into Districts this last weekend as the number two team. Things unfortunately didn't go the way they had wanted, but they are still heading to Divsionals! They first played Box Elder and won, then faced off against Fort Benton and lost, then on to Highwood, who they beat, and lastly faced Centerville, but also lost that game. So overall, in Districts, they went 2-2.

The Lady Pioneers once again showed true talent and grit on the court, and they worked so hard in so many sets! They played a total of 14 sets. They first played Box Elder and won in 3 sets with scores of 25-11, 25-16, and 25-13. Facing Fort Benton and unfortunately losing in 4 sets with scores being 25-17, 9-25, 22-25, and 10-25. Big Sandy bounced back when they faced off against Highwood and won in four sets, with scores being 25-21, 26-24, 20-25, and 25-22. They then faced a tough Centerville team, who they had just played a week ago, going all 5 sets but losing. So this highly anticipated rematch game was one to look forward to, but the Lady Pioneers fell short in three sets, with the scores being 23-25, 22-25, and 23-25.

When I asked Coach Brittany how she felt about this past weekend's District play, she said, "We had some really great moments at the District tournament, but overall, we did not put on the show that I know we are capable of! We faced some adversity this week, so the main goal for us now is to come together as a team and find the chemistry. I am proud of my team making it to the Divisional Tournament. It's a fresh week, and I'm looking forward to seeing how these girls perform. We are going to work hard at practice and come ready to play! We will be playing Belt at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday morning at GFCC. I hope to see our Pioneer fans cheering loud and proud for these ladies!!"
