Prepare for your tree planting efforts this spring by attending a tree planting workshop May 13th in Ft. Benton! Mandy Irlbeck, owner of Mandys Tree Care in Belgrade and a Board member of the Montana Urban and Community Forestry Association (MUCFA) says the most common mistake seen by her and other urban forestry professionals is improper tree planting by homeowners and landscapers. So, MUCFA and the MT Department of Natural Resources and Conservation (DNRC) Service Foresters will teach a tree planting workshop to be held on Monday, May 13, from 12-2 pm at Old Fort Park in Ft. Benton. The workshop is sponsored by the MUCFA, DNRC, the City of Ft. Benton, the Choteau County Extension Service, and the Ft. Benton Tree Board.
You will learn how to plant container grown trees. Participants will receive a copy of the “New Tree Planting” brochure published by the International Society of Arboriculture. MUCFA and DNRC staff will discuss how to prepare and plant trees properly. Be prepared for interesting discussions on newly purchased tree preparation and planting considerations used by each instructor.
Bring your gloves and dress for our uncertain May weather. Any questions please call Patrick Plantenberg, MUCFA Chair at 406-431-4615.
