E.B. Newhall returned from a trip to Portland, reporting that prices along the Pacific Coast were noticeably higher than at home. Mr. and Mrs. Neil McMillan and daughters departed for Oregon, carrying with them the good wishes of friends, while Mr. and Mrs. E.H. Campbell moved into the McMillan residence. A baby girl was born to Mr. and Mrs. Bert Breitenbucher.
The Married Folks’ Club held its final dance of the season, and Mrs. William Crofoot was pleasantly surprised by friends on her birthday. County Agent John Paugh and Clerk Halder M. Little Flock Preschool students toured The Mountaineer, learning about computers, the darkroom, and the printing process. Shane Ophus earned the Graduate Personal Property Appraiser designation, placing him among a select group of auctioneers nationwide with USPAP certification. Senator Jon Tester stopped by the Mountaineer offices to visit with staff and discuss the legislative session.
Scout News highlighted creative projects including soap sculptures, magic tricks, and Disney trivia. Academic honors were also announced as Jenny Lynn Silvan was named to the Dean’s Honor List at Northwest College, earning a 3.83 grade point average.
