The Big Sandy Pioneer girls and boys basketball teams dropped a pair of District 9C contests over the weekend to the Chinook Sugarbeeters and Fort Benton Longhorns.

The regular season has just three full weekends left and the District 9C tournament gets underway on Wednesday, February 15 and runs through Saturday, February 18.

It's been a struggle on the hardwood for head coach Ronnie Simpson and his boys and girls to say the least, but they show up and compete every night.

Both the girls and boys records currently stand at 1-11 and they hold the eight seed in the district race, but both teams have shown stretches of competitive basketball. They have fought hard for 32 minutes each and every night and while it may seem like a stretch to some, a win can come on any given night.

The District 9C tournament is a great time and showcases the efforts of the district's boys and girls and their accomplishment on the hardwood. These kids have worked hard and deserve the opportunity to represent the community next month, get out and support them, they may surprise you.
