Pioneers end season with 41-24 loss to Geraldine/Highwood

The Big Sandy Pioneers football season came to an end Saturday with a hard fought 41-24 defeat at the hands of the Geraldine/Highwood Rivals.

The Rivals jumped out to a 16-0 lead after the first quarter of action. Sophomore Weston Allderdice, who has quietly put together a fine season, scored from two yards out to get the Pioneers on the board and trim the score to 16-6.

The Rivals punched in a pair of scores before Big Sandy could offer up a response. Allderdice scored his second touchdown of the game, a 10 yard reception from senior Zach Works.

Senior Josh Solf score moments later on a five yard run to bring Big Sandy within striking distance at 31-18. The Rivals however answered with two more scores to put the game out of reach.

Freshman Jordan Schwarzbach would score the Pioneers final points of the season hauling in a pass from freshman Dallas Geyer to make the final score 41-24 in favor of the Rivals.
