The Big Sandy City Council passed into law a new business ordinance for business license fees throughout the town.

Mayor Stiles said the ordinance was necessary because “We have a lot of transient business coming in. Keeping track of them was very difficult to do. We needed to make them all have business licenses and we found we could not charge them without charging all of our businesses. So, that is what we did but we charge our brick and mortar businesses at a different rate.”
