Rotary Banquet Prizes, something for everyone plus new twists

March 2, 2016

The time to get a Rotary Banquet ticket is slipping away with the banquet scheduled for Saturday March 12, There are still tickets available for anyone who would like to get a ticket.

The tickets for the 32nd annual banquet benefit are still $100.00 thanks to the generosity of the local and surrounding area business community.

Those sponsorships provide funding for the 10 final prizes awarded at the end of the banquet. First prize is $3,000 cash. This year Valley Furniture is continuing the generosity of the Serv–Ur-Self Furniture Store with the donation of a Grand Door Prize. This year the Grand Door prize will be a beautiful fireplace mantle guaranteed to beautify anyone’s home.

The Rotary Club wishes to thank Serv-Ur-Self Furniture for its 31 years of donating a recliner chair for our annual banquets. The Grand Door Prize recliner chair give away was always a high point of the evening. A big Thank You to Valley Furniture stepping up and helping the Big Sandy Rotary Club continue the Grand Door Prize tradition.

In the spirit of change the Prize Committee is working to come up with some new twists to the Big Prizes and other raffle and silent auction events that are a big part of the fund raising event.

Prizes, raffle and auction items are on display at Wells Fargo Bank. Stop in and see the beautiful Flower Baskets quilt sewn by Patti Reichelt and quilted by Brenda Yirsa on display. This beautiful donation from Patti and Brenda will be a silent auction item this year.

People may wonder how the club can continue to keep the cost of the tickets to $100 after 31 years of banquets. In these days $100 does not buy what it did in 1984. The biggest reason the Rotary Club can keep the cost to $100 per ticket is because of cash donations and prizes from the generous businesses in Big Sandy and our surrounding area. The other great resource for the event are those of you who bring their check books and cash to help raise money during the evening through the many raffles, 50-50 drawings, silent auctions and the famous heads and tails event.

If you have not already purchased a ticket, you can still get your ticket from any member of the Big Sandy Rotary Club. Tickets are $100.00 each. Each ticket is good for a delicious prime rib dinner for two from Bomgarnder Catering and an evening of fun. Everyone who comes to the dinner on March 12 and participates in this once a year fund raising event will be a winner.
