Class of 1966 Reunion this weekend

August 17, 2016

After 50 years, the Big Sandy High School Class of 1966 will once again gather in our home town. This time it will be to celebrate our 50th class reunion. We had two main suggestions for the celebration. Most of those living out of town wanted to return to Big Sandy while others, especially those who live here, wanted to retrace out sneak trip trek to Lake Blaine.

We decided to do a little of both. We will begin in Big Sandy on August 18th with an open house at the Oil Barn located on the Quinn farm SE of town at 4 pm. We will then have a tour of Big Sandy’s newest factory where the Kracklin’ Kamut snacks are made at 5 pm. Then there will be a social hour at Pep’s from about 5:15 to 6 pm. Our friends from other classes are welcome to join us on these activities.

After the social hour we will have steak dinner in the bowling alley followed by some socializing and bowling. Friday we will drive through Glacier Park and meet in Kalispell for a pizza party. Unfortunately the roller rink and other buildings we enjoyed at Lake Blaine are all gone so we will move on a bigger lake this time. Saturday we will enjoy a boat ride on Flathead Lake and then see “Grease” at the Big Fork Summer Playhouse.

A goodbye brunch in Kalispell will be our closing activity. Despite the fact we have lost some of our classmates and others are spread across the face of the whole world, we still expect more than 50% of our class of 40 to be able to attend and enjoy all or part of the festivities. It is hard to believe 50 years now separates us from graduation night in the Big Sandy Auditorium but it will be a great weekend of reunions, reminiscing and reviewing a lifetime of activities.
