Big Sandy Medical Center (BSMC) is initiating a fundraising campaign for 2017. BSMC is in need of an upgrade to the radiology equipment. Several local companies, foundations, and other philanthropic groups have been contacted to assist in raising funds for this capital project. BSMC's current x-ray machine was purchased in 1989. We have an excellent service team who have managed to keep the equipment maintained over the years despite difficulty in getting parts. It is always wise to be proactive when it comes to the purchasing of items such as this. We need to replace it now before something happens that we cannot repair our current equipment.

The total amount of the project is $50,000. BSMC has limited financial resources to fund the project so has requested the assistance of the Big Sandy Medical Services Foundation and other area organizations. The Foundation has agreed to make this project a priority during their annual fundraising campaign. Letters to area residents were sent out last week.

Our current x-ray machine is nearly 30 years old and it is required as part of our Critical Access Hospital designation to have radiology services available at all times. Radiology testing plays a huge part in caring for our community members. This piece of equipment is vital to the community as it provides crucial diagnostic testing for patients and residents. BSMC would like to ask all community members to consider donating to the Foundation to make this vital purchase a reality.

Thank you so much for your consideration and a huge thank you to the Big Sandy community for supporting BSMC
