Harvest running late this year and are you just plumb tired of fixing harvest lunches? Look no further. Just call 378-2405 and order your harvest lunch from the Senior Citizen’s Center.

Lunches for the coming week are as follows:

Wednesday, August 23 Salisbury steak, mashed potatoes, brown gravy, salad, bread and dessert for hands down the Lunch of the Week!

Thursday, Augusts 24 crispy nutty chicken with fires, salad and dessert.

Friday, August 25 egg salad sandwiches, potato salad, chips and dessert.

Monday, August 28 stuffed green peppers, salad, rolls and dessert for yet another Lunch of the Week. The game is afoot, cooks!

Tuesday, August 29 Sloppy Joes, tator tots, salad and dessert.

This week the cooks served Cabbage Patch Soup on Monday. Here is the recipe.

You will need

1 ½ pounds hamburger

4 to 5 stalks celery, diced

½ medium onion diced

Dash of pepper

¼ teaspoon chili powder

1 15oz can tomatoes

1 15 oz can beef broth or equivalent

1 15 oz can of red kidney beans

1 15 oz can tomato sauce

½ medium head cabbage, cut into small chunks

Here is what you do---------

Brown hamburger, celery and onion in a large soup pot

Add remaining ingredients and allow to boil gently for 20 minutes on medium high heat.
