Happenings at the Library

October 18, 2017

The recent snowstorm thrust many of us into a December mode. Looking at the bright side of that is remembering all the past wonderful Christmas Strolls in our little town and looking forward to this annual event which is only a month and a half away. The Jeff Reichelt Memorial Library in Big Sandy once again has a beautiful quilt that will be awarded to the lucky raffle ticket holder at the conclusion of the Stroll at City Hall. This lovely quilt, on display at our Library, was made by Judy (Bissell) Hawkins [BSHS Class of 1966] and donated to the Big Sandy Friends of the Library to raise funds for the children's room books. This is the second quilt Judy has sewn for our library. Thank you, Judy! The Class of '66 has been very generous to our library, and we sincerely appreciate all of your support. Tickets for this quilt are on sale now through the Stroll: $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00. Stop at the library to see this work of art. Contact Ann Quinn (378-3106), Dee Pribyl (378-2393), or Marla Ray (378-2606) with any questions or to purchase tickets if you don't live here. The Book Sale continues in the meeting room of the library: $1.00 per bag. Exceptional deal! Lots of fun activities continue with the Lego Club for all ages and Storytime for the younger ones. Remember the Read and Swap shelves of books in the foyer: bring a book of your own that you've read and swap it for one that someone else has donated. Lots of good reads available! The library is decked out in fall colors now with lots of hunting magazines to peruse, many newspapers, computers to use, a terrific piano to practice on, as well as all of the stacks of neatly organized books to browse – all in a beautiful, comfortable setting. Librarian Darlene Cline is ready to help you find whatever book you are looking for or to make a suggestion for you to read. Library hours are currently Tuesday and Thursday: noon -6 pm, Wednesday and Friday: 10 am – 2 pm. Come on in and enjoy yourself!
