Birthdays for November include Shane Chauvet, Pam Bold, Dianna Webster, Leo Bitz, Adele Otto, Betty Lou Solberg, Gene Welty, David Schwarzbach, Marianne Brewer and Earl Boettcher.

As Glenn Miller and his orchestra play “A String of Pearls” a swish around the ballroom from November anniversaries, Wesley and Rita Berlinger, Glenn and Jere Skaalure, Raymond and Carla Courtnage, Frank and Lis Maxwell and Francis and Doris Gasvoda.

Contact Senior Citizen cooks at 378-2405 and remember that if you are ordering meals on wheels, order them before 10:30am.

Menus for the coming week are as follows:

Wednesday, November 1 fish and chips, salad, and dessert.

Thursday, November 2 Sloppy Joes, vegetables, salad and dessert.

Friday, November 3 cabbage stew and dessert for the Lunch of the Week!

Monday, November 6 tuna noodle casserole, vegetables, salad and dessert.

Tuesday, November 7 baked enchiladas, salad and dessert.

This week the cooks recommend Rhubarb Coffee Cake.

1 ½ cup flour

1 cup sugar

2 eggs

1 cup sour cream

1 teaspoon baking soda

½ teaspoon salt

2 cups rhubarb cut in quarter inch pieces

Toppings include chopped walnuts, ½ cup brown sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease 9 by 13 pan. In a large bowl mix the first seven ingredients and blend well with wooden spoon. Pour the mixture into a 9 by 13 baking pan. Ina small bowl combine the three ingredients listed under toppings. Sprinkle the topping mixture evenly on top of the rhubarb mixture and bake in 350 degree oven for 35 to 40 minutes. Serve warm with whipped cream.
