Rivals hand Big Sandy second straight loss

Sophomore Kade Strutz looks for running room in the Pioneers game against the Geraldine/Highwood Rivals at home Friday night. The Rivals won the contest 56-42 despite the Pioneers getting five touchdowns and 158 yards out of Strutz. Big Sandy will take on Heart Butte this Friday at 7:00 p.m.

The Big Sandy Pioneer football team has playoff aspirations this fall but now stand at 2-2 following another tough loss to a ranked opponent.

The Geraldine/Highwood Rivals raced out to a 24-12 halftime lead and then held on for a 56-42 win over the hometown Pioneers.

The Pioneers have faced two of the top teams in the state the past two weeks and with a young team that gets better with every snap, that experience could bode well for them down the stretch.
