Mountaineer Photo Contest Winners

January 23, 2019

Mary Ophus, from Big Sandy, took the first-place honors with this picture of farm life. She took this picture while out on the farm doing chores besides the chicken coop. It was taken last March "during that awful winter." Mary thought it was beautiful day and grabbed her cell phone to capture the light. "I'm not a fan of snow but the sun shining on it was beautiful." She likes taking photographs and takes a number of them. The Mountaineer hopes to see more of her photographs in the future.

Braydon Cline and 8th grader at Big Sandy was an honorable mention. He likes photography. He took this picture on his grandfather's, Bob Schoonover, farm which is between Big Sandy and Fort Benton. He was just at the right place at the right time. He grabbed his cell phone to take this picture. The Mountaineer has encouraged him to take more photos during the next four years at Big Sandy High school.
