The school year reached their 100 days of school February 19th and they celebrated it in style. The grade school students were encouraged to come to school looking like what they might look if they were 100 years old. My granddaughter dressed up. She said, "I'm gonna be an energized 100 yr. old". She even brought her dumbbell to school with her. But my one grandson said, "you should have dressed up like gramma. Then you'd be old." They gave out 100 calorie snacks, and at the end of the day they will line up in groups of ten till each 100.

100th Day of School was part of "I love to read month" at the Grade School. February 11-14th was Secret Valentine with a book. Students chose a book with only a short explanation of the subject. After they finish the book, if they do so before the end of the month, and if they share it with the rest of their class during library time, they will win a prize.

February 14th was books are D.E.A. R. to us day. During the day, it was announced over the loud speaker they needed to Drop Everything And Read. Students needed to have a book with them at all times.

A great quote about school libraries. "Walking into a school library can be like walking into Willy Wonka's factory-Just about anything could be going on inside those doors and it's often amazing and sweet."

James Lowland is the K-12 Librarian. He taught History and English, before he changed to librarian for each school. Dick Thornton also works in the library. Each student is encouraged to take books home and read nightly. Reading while your child reads will show him how important reading is. Bali Rai an English author with numerous writing awards said, "Reading for pleasure is the single biggest factor in success later in life, outside of an education. Study after study has shown that those children who read for pleasure are the one who are most likely to full fill their ambitions. If your child reads, they will succeed. It's that simple."
