Celebrating Mother's Day

May 15, 2019

When you think of Mother’s Day and what you do for Mother’s Day it usually doesn’t included tractor work. Driving long hours trying to get caught up with the spring’s late start. You think of flowers and homemade cards. It doesn’t matter how old we are, or if our mother has been gone a long time, we think of our mother and wish our best friend was still present. But rural life sometimes just means special days, even Mother’s Day, is placed on hold.

There is no other holiday more emotional as Mother’s Day because a mother’s heart is so imperative to our upbringing. It was established by Anna Jarvis, whose mother had passed away the year before, on May 10, 1908 with the first official Mother’s Day celebrated at St. Andrew’s Methodist Church in Grafton, West Virginia. The first official Mother’s Day was in May 1914 with Hallmark starting to make Mother’s Day cards in early 1920’s. The cards lacked color and in those days, and if they were in color the color was hand applied. It’s never too late to acknowledge our love for our mother’s. And if you were to ask them, they’d probably want to hear the words every day. Here are some great quotes
