The Big Sandy Pool has opened for the season. It opened Saturday, June 1 for open swim. The weather was great for opening weekend. The kiddie pool will hopefully be ready this weekend.

We got a bit of a late start getting going on the pool this season thanks to the late cold snap in the weather. Tim LaBuda and Larry Geyer worked hard getting the pool up and running in time for the schools to use it the last two weeks of school. The pool got 2 new heaters this year. The old one finally gave out in the late season last summer. We had some complications the last few weeks, and new heaters were the way to go. "They are working great!" Said Leslie Gregory, Pool manager.

The pool will be open for open swim Monday through Sunday Noon to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. We are open for an adult lap swim Monday through Friday 9:00 a.am to 10:00 a.m. Cost for admission is $5.00 for the after noon session and $3.00 for the evening, lap swim is $2.00. We offer season passes, Family pass is $100 and that's immediate family only, and a single pass is $60.

The pool is staffed by ten lifeguards this season, all returned from last year. "It's nice to see the familiar faces this season, I am glad they all decided to return." Said Leslie Gregory. The guards will have to have a refresher course in test taking and read over the rules just to make sure they didn't forget things. But they are ready to work and enjoy a great summer.

The Town of Big sandy would like everyone to come and enjoy the pool this season. It is great place to cool down and enjoy a day of getting sun and relax. If you have any questions please call pool manger Leslie Gregory at 378-2328.
