Her Love of Horses

November 27, 2019

Lily Winderl likes to paint. Horses are her forte. She loves drawing horses. "I start most of my pieces with a basic coat, a then I add a vibrant color. I do a lot of bright colors. I've been working with pastels for some time." But she will also tell you she paints with vibrant colors when she's happy. It's joy she is trying to express. She'll paint with dark colors or create more bland paintings if her day isn't going well.

"Art is important because it's a release from everyday life. It's an output for every day for creative energy. There are so many things that are stressful in life, and art doesn't have to be stressful. There is no drama to it. It's releasing and relaxing."

"There are so many different art forms out there. So many ways to be creative. The world would be boring without art."

"I love art, my mother is the art teacher, and I have been around art my whole life. I plan on going to college for art." Photography is her favorite, however. She likes to take scenery pictures or close-ups. Artsylil55 is her Instagram pen name if you are savvy enough to look at the Instagram program. You will find several beautiful photographs and some more of her paintings there as well.

She plans on going to Missoula, U of M, to get a degree in art. She's a junior this year.

If you are looking for something to do, the Big Sandy High School art students have a number of their art on display in the hall. I was very impressed with the quality of their work. I did pick Pastel Ponies out, because of the colors. I thought it would show up wonderfully on a color page in the paper.
