Lift Opens in Phase Two

June 10, 2020

Lift was required to close its doors on March 19th by the state of Montana because of COVID-19. Their doors were closed for 74 days and just opened this June 1st again. Lift is a CrossFit organization. The owner, Julie Myers, is happy. She said, "I'm very glad to be back open!"

They do have to take precautions. "Everybody is supposed to wipe down every piece of equipment that they use." Clients are asked not to come if they have any of the symptoms of COVID-19. If you are sick, stay home. However, coaches have to take their temperature when they enter the gym. There are three coaches, Brittney McKenney, Carissa Ray, and Julie Myers, who is also the owner.

During the shut-down, Julie had asked the Cross Fit Athletes to download an exercise ap. She also put workouts online every day so they could exercise while the gym was not open. They were to track their exercise as a way to stay challenged. Some did workout at home; others just didn't. You do hear, from those who have started working out again, a lot of expressions about how sore they are now. But, everyone is excited to once again be on the right track. They are glad to finally start exercising because they have so much more energy and feel much better when they exercise.

Exercises included but not limited to are: Weight training, running, rowing, sit ups, pull ups, and jump roping. All can be modified to meet your abilities. I caught one Cross Fit athlete at the Grocery Store, right after an exercise session. She was exhausted, and red from exercise. She said, "It's great community of athletics and competitors." Lift does have a schedule out. Monday through Friday 8:00-9:00 am; 4:30-5:30 pm; and 5:30-6:30 pm. Low impact classes are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday between 3:30-4:30 pm. Please contact July at her cell phone at 541-720-1120 if you are interested in working out.

The local high school gym weight room is closed to public use, and at the time of this printing, they have no idea how to reopen it.
