Northern Ag Research Center Posts Top Yielding Spring and Winter Wheat Varieties for the Loma Area
MSU Northern Agricultural Research Center (NARC) has posted 2020 wheat yield data for the McKeever plot north of Loma. A special thanks to Peggy Lamb (NARC agronomist) and the NARC staff for establishing and maintaining the Chouteau County test plot near Loma. In addition, the Extension office would like to thank the McKeever family for donating the use of their land for MSU research. A field day at the test plot will take place on June 22, 2021. More information on the field day will be distributed later on in the growing season.
NARC (Loma area) top three yielding winter wheat varieties (ten-year means) from 2011-2020 are Bobcat at 68.5 bushels per acre, SY Monument at 65.1 bushels per acre and Brawl CLP at 64.1 bushels per acre. Bobcat is the top yielding solid stem sawfly-tolerant variety followed by Judee at 57.3 bushels per acre and Warhorse at 52.8 bushels per acre.
NARC (Loma area) top three yielding spring wheat varieties (eight-year average yield) from 2013-2020 include Dagmar at 43.1 bushels per acre, Vida at 40.9 bushels per acre and NS Presser CLP at 39.4 bushels per acre. WB Gunnison is the top yielding solid stem sawfly-tolerant variety at 37.8 bushels per acre followed by Duclair at 37.3 and Choteau at 34.8 bushels per acre.
NARC (Chester area) top three yielding durum varieties ( seven-year average yield) from 2014-2020 include Alzada at 38.1 bushels per acre, Mountrail at 35.2 bushel per acre and Grenora at 35 bushels per acre.
