Paula Witt and her husband Todd, along with many others, have completed the dream of holding a free concert on their farm to celebrate and support county fire departments. Paula said, "it was my husband Todd's idea to support the volunteer firefighters. And have a free concert at the end of summer. We just wanted to do something to give back to the community. Give something fun to do outside. He said our fire departments need to help. The firefighters risk their lives, leave their jobs, leave their fields for no pay."

"A lot of people thought this was a political rally, but it has no political affiliation at all. There will not be any undertones or overtones at the concert. It's good to get together and celebrate and dance and sing."

They have done a lot of work, hoping to make this a great celebration to thank and support our firefighters. "This was a serious fire season, but the fire departments got on the fire so quickly in our county and got the fires out of right away. It is a credit to our fire departments and community members for sure."

They have talked to every fire department and ask them to bring auction items, so besides music and food, there will be an auction where each fire department will take home the money earned on their article. It will go directly to that fire department. They'll be accepting donations and will "divvy up" to the various departments in the county.

Food will be available to purchase from Pigasus out of Fort Benton and Spices and Spurs from Great Falls. There will be Cotton Candy from Loma. Golden Triangle is bringing a keg. People need to be responsible for themselves. No other beverages will be provided, so you should bring something to drink.

Our own Big Sandy Wortman Sister will start the entertainment at 4:00. Also providing some songs will be the Stone Children from Geraldine. The big band for the night is a combination of players from the Whiskey River and the Yellowstone Drifters. The music will go till 9:00, but they would like everyone to leave by 10:00.

The outdoor concert will be on Colony Bay Road out of Loma. There will be signs directing you to their place. Make sure to bring your chairs and refreshments.

Will they do this again next year? "It's a possibility if people are respectful, and we have a good turnout. We will think about doing it again."

With all the sponsors and early donations, they have it all paid for, and as of Sunday, they have a $1,000 profit. If you cannot attend but would like to donate, send it to the Loma Fire Department. Write on the check "Freedom Concert," and they will make sure it goes into the pot to be divided up.
