The Big Sandy Chili Feed has always been filled with fun memories of firetruck rides, homecoming, and a chance to see your friends and neighbors. I don’t think I have missed one in almost forty years. However, this year’s Chili Feed has a different meaning to me than years past. This year when I go, it will not only be the memories in my mind, but a new purpose to also say thanks! I was involved in an accident in July that nearly amputated my arm. The Big Sandy Ambulance crew and the ER saved my life and my arm. My family and I wanted to give back to all the people that helped me along the wat; We are donating 23 round bales of 2021 grass hay, approximately 17 ton, to be auctioned off at the bank parking lot on Main street during the Big Sandy Chili Feed Oct 8 at 5:30. The money raised will benefit the Big Sandy emergency room as well as the Big Sandy Ambulance. My family and I felt the hay is something we could give that is very much needed in the whole state. I hope we have a good crowd to bid on the hay to support the Big Sandy Ambulance and the Big Sandy ER. Along with the Volunteer fire department, they are critical emergency services that are invaluable to our community.

It may be your life they save; next, you never know. These situations are never planned; however, we are very grateful to have these dedicated people in our community and never take their services for granted. See you on Oct 8 at 5:30 at the Big Sandy bank parking lot.
