National Honor Society inductees 2022: l to r: Amiya Griffith, Matthew Bendig, Lance Rutledge, Tavie Wortman, Angie Sant, and Jaycee Worrel.

The following awards and scholarships were given to Amiya Griffith; Heisman Award, Montana University System Honor; Montana STEM/ Healthcare, Youth Serve MT, Masonic Scholarship, American Legion Government Tests 1st Amiya Griffith, Masonic Treasure Lodge, FFA, Shannon Green Memorial, and Grosen Family.

Cooper Taylor and Lainey Terry received the HOBY award.

This year's Girls State Delegate was Amaya Edwards.

Tavie Wortman received the DAR Good Citizen School Winner, Elanie Courtnage Memorial, George and Penny Ament Creativity, American Legion Government 2nd, Elanie Courtnage, Walter Brown Memorial, Helen Wetherbee and Rudy Blazek, Lulu Giebel Music, and Ralph Schwartz Memorial Music.

Lance Rutledge will be traveling to D. C. because of an award from the Triangle Telephone.

Savannah Weaver received the VFW, American Legion Government 3rd, Bud Gullickson Memorial Scholarship-Rotary, Grace and Max Clawiter, and the Sigurrd Braekkflat scholarship.

Hestin Cook received the Sigurrd Braekkeflat scholarship.

The total scholarship earned by the class of 2022 is $42,000.

Athletic awards for cheerleaders were: Most Positive Attitude Tavie Wortman, Outstanding Leadership Haley Schwenke, Best Technique, Teagen Cochran, and Most Team Spirit Jaycee Worrall.

Varsity Volleyball Coaches Choice Award went to Eva Yeadon, Best Teammate to Jaycee Worrall and Angie Sant, Best Offense; Amiya Griffith, Best Defense, Lainey Terry, Most improved Eva Yeadon, Most Valuable Player Amiya Griffith, Scrappiest (Laceen Ophus Award) Amiya Griffith Academic Allstate: Lainey Terry, Amiya Griffith, Eva Wagoner, Jai Baumann, Eva Yeadon, Jaycee Worrall, Angie Sant, Keira Galbavy, Carmen Tan, Alex Worrall, and Jenny Sant.

Football Awards: Academic All-State; Lance Rutledge, Braydon Cline, Rusty Gasvoda, Kody Struzt, and Lane Demontiney. All-State: Kody Strutz, Braydon Cline, Rusty Gasvoda, and Lane Demontiney. Scout Team Player; Sam Cox; Most Inspirational Rusty Gasvoda, Most Improved Lane Denontiney; Most Valuable Offensive, Kody Strutz; Most Valuable Defense Rusty Gasvoda, Most Valuable Player Braydon Cline.

Girls Basketball: Academic Allstate Mattie Gasvoda, Jai Baumann, Jenny Sant, Eva Yeadon, Brianna Terry, and Eva Wagoner. Most Improved Alex Worrall, Best Teammate Brianna Terry, Offensive Player of the Year Eva Wagoner, Defensive Player of the Year Jai Baumann, and Most Outstanding Player, Eva Yeadon.

Boys Basketball: Academic Allstate: Lane Demontiney, Kody Strutz, Hunter Moore, Samuel Cox, and Braydon Cline. All-Conference: Kody Strutz, Lane Demontiney, and Braydon Cline. All-State: Braydon Cline. Top Rebounder Wylee Snapp, Most Improved Sonny Phillips, Leadership Award Rusty Gasvoda, Best Offensive Player, Most Valuable teammate Award Kody Strutz, Man of Character Award Severin Heimbingner, and Hardest Worker Award Rusty Gasvoda.

Scholarships for Big Sandy High School graduates: Big Sandy Educational Foundation provides scholarships to current college students. To apply for a scholarship, submit a detailed letter of interest to foundation@bigsandy.k12.mt.us.
