It's been 16 years since the Lady Pioneers have taken first place at the 9C District track meet. It was a goal they had set for themselves, and it took a total team effort to do.

It's been a challenging year for the boys and girls pioneer track teams with lousy weather and numerous track meets canceled. They had to practice indoors when the weather wasn't cooperating. They struggled through sadness with the loss of their friend, injuries, frustrations, and sometimes even indifference. But most found their pioneer spirit at the end of the track season and saw they could celebrate winning! They advance to Divisional by placing in the top five of each event, and then times and measurements in all the districts are compared to determine what athlete fills the remaining roster.

Congratulations to the following 12 girls who qualified for Divisional:

Eva Wagoner will compete in five events; 100 Meter, 200 Meter, 100 Meter Hurdles, 300 Meter Hurdles, and the 4x100 Meter Relay. Malaysia Baumann is going to Divisional in the Long and Triple Jump. Mattie Gasvoda will complete in the 300H, the Triple jump, and the 4x400 Relay. Amy Gasvoda will run in the 3200 meter (2-Mile) and the 800 meter. Angie Sant will compete in four events the 800, the 1600 (mile), the Javelin, and the 4x400 Relay. Lainey Terry will run a leg in the 4X100 Relay and jump in the Long Jump. Kaya Demontiney will run the 400, the 300H, and the 4x400 Relay. Jai Baumann will run in the 4x100 Relay and jump in the Long and Triple Jumps. Carmen Tan has four events the 100, the100H, the 4x100 Relay, and the Long Jump. Jenny Sant will run in the 100H and is the alternate in the 4x100 Relay and the 4 X 400 Relay. Alex Worrall will run the 800 and the 1600. Eva Yeadon competes in four events the 400, the 4x400 Relay, the Javelin, and the High Jump.

Congratulations to the following six boys who qualified for Divisional:

Girls 4x100 relay brought home 1st place at Districts, Eva Wagoner, Carmen Tan, Jenny Sant, Lainey Terry.

Kody Strutz competes in five events the 100, the 200, the Triple Jump, and two relays, the 4x100 and the 4x400. Rusty Gasvoda, who wasn't feeling well at districts, competes in five events as well the 110 Hurdles, the 300 Hurdles, two relays, the 4x100, and the 4x400, as well as the Discus. Austin Haugen will run in both relays, the 4x100 and the 4x400. Cooper Taylor will throw the Javelin and the Discus and run in both the relays, the 4x100 and the 4x400. Wylee Snapp will run in the 4x100 Relay and throw the Shot, the Discus, and the Javelin. Darrell Sunchild will throw the Discus.
