It didn't take long for the Pioneers to build a lead against Box Elder on Friday night. The Big Sandy football team put up 40 points in the first quarter. Braydon Cline threw for five scores and ran for another. Lane Demontiney hauled in three touchdown passes during the rout of the Box Elder Bears as well as a punt return. The Bears lone score came towards the end of the third quarter on an 18 yard catch and run. Senior Tannin Baumann also cashed in on two rushing touchdowns for the Pioneers in the second half.
The opening score for Big Sandy came on the first offensive play, a 46 yard touchdown pass from Cline to Kody Strutz. The next score for the Pioneers came on a 35 yard dash to the end zone by Braydon Cline. On the next offensive possession Cline would connect with Demontiney on a 11 yard score. A minute later he'd be in the endzone again after catching his second touchdown reception of the night, a 22 yard haul. Cooper Taylor would find himself in the endzone after a 37 yard catch and run touchdown. The last score of the quarter would come on a punt return score by Lane Demontiney. The Pioneers led 40-0 after the first quarter.
Senior Lance Rutledge would score his first touchdown of the season early in the second quarter on a 17 yard reception. The senior captain also hauled in another first down grab in the game. Tannin Baumann ran in two more scores for the Pioneers to make the score 60-7 at games end. Sophomore Ryder Galbavy led the Pioneer defense with 5 tackles, one of which being a sack. Lane Demontiney hauled in three interceptions in the contest.
The Pioneer Middle School team kept their unbeaten streak alive by defeating the Box Elder Bears 16-8, in a hard fought contest. Eyon Sherburn and Karter Jurenka both scored on touchdown receptions. Quinn Rodewald booted two successful extra points to cap off the scores.
The Big Sandy Pioneers will be on the road this weekend facing off against the Heart Butte Warrior Saturday at 1PM.
